This is the Granny 3D Runtime exporter plugin for 3ds max 6, 7 and 8.

It should allow, if used correctly, the exporting of custom models, meshes and animations to the Granny Runtime format (.GR2)used by Age of Empires 3, The War Chiefs and Asian Dynasties.

All the models you export should ideally go in the LOCAL DRIVE:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Age of Empires III\art folder.

Depending on what you're making (Building, unit, ect) it should have a directory in the art folder, say art\Buildings\props_colony\[YOUR MODEL NAME]\[YOUR MODEL.GR2, along with all DDT texture files and your_unit.xml (the anim file).

I maybe wrong, but for animations you might have to add an Animations_Library folder.

About the Plugin:

I found the plugin by doing a google search, ironically. I'm not sure what all the settings are/do, but there does seem to be some help documentation built into the export dialog box. To get your models orientated right, you may have to play around with the settings and do several exports.

I repeat: I. DID. NOT. CREATE. THIS. PLUGIN. For further help with the options, or any online documentation, you'll have to go to the forum to which I will provide the link below.

Simply double-click on the installer, and browse to your C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max [VER NUMBER]\Plugins folder and click install. If you don't wish to install it that way, just place the acompaning Granny2.dll, Expotron.dle and granny_max.dlo files into the above directory.
